I like to walk, to be outside in nature. My work generally comes from the things that excite me while I walk. I am a photographer and printmaker and I am intrigued with silence and sound, and the space that exists around them - the liminal, the pause, the unseen or unnoticed moment.
I explore this space through studies of nature and the landscape. Playing with darkness and light, stripping my subject matter down to the minimalist of marks, so things begin to disappear, become less. Everything moves towards emptiness and silence. But it never quite gets there - there is always something. In my work I am exploring how I can express this moment between sound and silence, between something and nothing, through light, space, material and surface.
